This is a perfect Japanese Imari charger with a genuine Certificate of Authenticity!!

ca. 1850's

Imari ware is a type of porcelain made in the Arita area of Japan and exported from the port of Imari. This style is characterized by its vibrant colors and detailed designs, often featuring landscapes, flowers, birds, and mythical creatures.

This beautiful plate displays a bird perched on a branch amidst floral and foliage motifs, all rendered in a blue underglaze with a pretty scalloped edge. This style became popular after the mid-17th century when the instability in China created a demand for Japanese porcelain in international markets. Imari ware is known for its thin, delicate finish and is considered a type of porcelain.

The plate comes with a beautiful vintage 10 1/2" x 8" wood stand, the right size to hold a heavy plate this size.

The original Certificate will come with the plate and stand. The document is signed Noele Jordan Mele from Phoenix Galleries. New York, 1976

This stunning collectors item looks amazing displayed with modern furniture and old pine antiques in any decor, it is simply timeless.
